About Seabrook Island
Seabrook Island
Seabrook Island, located on the Atlantic shore just 22 miles south of historic Charleston, is unique among South Carolinas many attractive resort and residential communities. It is distinctive in that it is more private and less busy by choice and completely owned by its property owners. Entry to the island is controlled by a security gate that insures privacy for stay and play resort guests and residents. Seabrook Island resort guests staying in member owned villas have full member privileges and access to all facilities.
The natural beauty of the island is striking as you enter under a canopy of great oaks and the myriad number of trees and flora native to the sea islands. There are three miles of pristine beach along the Atlantic shore and the banks of the Edisto River, which empties into the ocean at Seabrook. Marshes teeming with wildlife and changing vistas with the tides captivate visitors and residents who enjoy this idyllic setting.
The Club at Seabrook Island, which is owned by a number of the property owners, offers two championship golf courses: Crooked Oaks designed by the great Robert Trent Jones, Sr. (which offers the only bentgrass greens in the entire Charleston area) and Ocean Winds along the ocean designed by Willard Byrd; a beach club with two pools; 15 clay composition tennis courts in a racquet club setting; fitness center; and a beautiful Island House club facility housing restaurants, a lounge, and the golf pro shop. Other restaurant facilities located in the Beach Club area offer casual fare and libations seasonally for swimmers and sun enthusiasts. A complete program of supervised childrens fun and family activities is in full swing from Memorial Day to Labor Day and during the holidays. Also unique to Seabrook Island is its equestrian center, which offers both trail and beach rides.
The Clubs rental program has more than 200 villas and 15 private homes available for rental, situated along the beach, marshes, golf courses, and Racquet Club.
Splendidly equipped conference facilities operated by The Club offer exceptional service and convenience to executive conferences, corporate meetings, and incentive programs. Oceanfront meeting rooms, restaurants, and private function areas offer the intangible advantage of an expansive Atlantic Ocean view.
Bohicket Marina, located just outside the gate of Seabrook Island, is a superb boat marina and attractive shopping area on Bohicket Creek. Three hundred slips are available for all sizes of motor cruisers and sailboats. Boat rentals and charters for deep sea fishing, crabbing, shrimping, cocktail cruises, or exploring the miles of ocean creeks are available for your marine pleasures.
A visit to Seabrook Island will be an experience you will recall with fond memories. It may even bring you back for permanent enjoyment of a quality of life that is rare and special.
Seabrook Island is a private community with access limited to property owners and guests of the resort or rental agencies.

"Picture riding horses on the beach with your significant other and as you turn to look at her, you catch a sunset glimmering off the ocean that competes for your attention.
It's time to take your camera to Seabrook Island, where such a setting is commonplace. Property owners at Seabrook have guarded their privacy with such enthusiasm that they don't allow visitors unless they have reservations. This safeguarded, resort-like atmosphere assures you a peaceful stroll on the beach or to play a game of golf at your own pace on Seabrook's championship courses. Crooked Oaks, charted by Robert Trent Jones Sr., curls between centuries-old oaks and maritime forests, and Ocean Winds, designed by Willard Byrd, sports fairways and greens amongst tidal marshes, sand dunes and the Atlantic.
You can package your vacation by activity, such as horseback riding out of the 22-acre, 32-stall Equestrian Center, home of the Charleston Summer Classic. The center offers both trail and beach rides.
Bohicket Marina, meanwhile, is the center for fishing, boating and other water-based activities, such as: deep-sea fishing, with half- and full-day charters available; inshore fishing, with marshes beyond the island that are good for shrimping and crabbing; boat charters, be they for sailing, fishing, crabbing or sightseeing; kayaking and canoeing rentals and tours, and parasailing.
Seabrook Island is an enchanting destination for families and couples alike.
Other options include a beach club with two pools, 15 clay-composition tennis courts in a racquet-club setting, the fitness center or the Island House club center, which houses restaurants, a lounge and a golf pro shop.
Family activities are featured, too, and include the Seabrook Kids' Club, golf and tennis clinics, pony rides, a gameroom, swimming lessons, water aerobics, rollerblading, basketball, volleyball, crabbing adventures and ice cream socials.
All of these activities are entwined in the island's natural beauty. Of 2,200 acres, only a fraction is developed and only a fraction more is slated for development. The golf courses were the first in South Carolina to become fully certified Audobon Cooperative Sanctuaries. You'll find no obtrusive road signs, no chain restaurants (but plenty of culinary delights in the trio of restaurants that are here) and little noise -- other than that of the ocean, the birds or the rest of nature."
